FIGHT FOR FAIR FASHION

Fairtrade Fashion is Mary Ann Clothing’s flagship advocacy because we understand that not all glitters are gold and it’s so easy to be reeled into the glitz and glamour lure of the fashion industry for all the wrong reason.

Some things are worth fighting for and the fashion industry is not a lost cause. Changing business models and shopping habits derived from social data sets as a result from modern education and research, enables the fashion landscape to become an ethical hub for trend savvy individuals groomed with not only an eye for style and aesthetic, but morals as well.

FairTrade Premium enables us to ensure that each step of our production chain and creative process provide all parties involved to attain a dignified life through fair wages and good working environment.

The price of our fashion goods and services not only cover our quality standard and output but also the lives we are able to change through commerce.

Social Impact With Commerce

Founder, Mai Manaloto is working with various social enterprises and non-profit organisations in the Philippines to provide quality and sustainable livelihood for women in impoverished communities to end poverty.

Some of the biggest struggle she saw in the garment manufacturing sector in the Philippines is the lack of government funding in naturally producing or farming natural fibres rather than importing these goods from neighbouring countries considering the nations abundance in farm lands. Mining for precious metals is perceived to be a better investment for the economy despite the large-scale devastation on the ecosystem.

Philippines is also losing international clientele for garment manufacturing project due to higher labour cost compared to neighbouring countries such as Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.

A slightly higher labour cost means better working condition and higher wages for Filipinos but many businesses and fashion brands would still pinch a few penny for higher profit without a care.

DID YOU KNOW? We are passionate about eradicating poverty in the Philippines through education. Mai Manaloto have been supporting “Project Bata, Mag-aral Ka” (PBMK) since 2012 where the advocacy aims to help indigent children have a brighter future.
